Continuing our deep dive into new licensing rules in California, today’s bulletin is a decision tree to demystify provisional license application deadlines.

Do any of these apply to you?

  • opening a new cannabis business,
  • relocating,
  • adding new activities, or
  • expanding your existing footprint.
If yes, continue reading below.

Start at the top (green box) and follow the questions and arrows until you get to a deadline (red/pink/yellow box).

Expect a rush of applications just before each of the official deadlines listed in the yellow boxes. The trailer bills specify deadlines for you (an application deadline) and for the Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) (a final date that the DCC can issue a new provisional license). The DCC will only have 3 months to process applications submitted on the deadline. If they receive more applications than they can process in 3 months, some applicants may be denied. If denied a provisional, you must wait until you can meet the requirements for an annual.

Bottom line: Waiting to apply could mean a delay in your business operations. Don’t wait to make a plan. Contact the Clark Howell team today to get your licensing plan in place.
There is still time.  We’re here to help you meet these deadlines.
